Analytics delivers pick and zone restructure insights in 10 minutes

I just came across this post by Andrew Weith of ASW Global Consulting on the TUG Forum and had to share it:

In working with a client earlier this week, I suggested their storage of products was 'backwards', meaning fast moving product was furthest from the docks and slow moving was closest. It was an observation with merit but we couldn't possibly invest in flipping the building on it's head based on what I 'think' is occurring.

With LITERALLY a 10-minute dive into their reporting solution they were able to sum how many picks were done by zone (first couple characters in their bin schema) in the last 12 months.

Findings? 86% of their picks were in the two zones opposite the dock doors, with just 7% coming from the zones closest to the docks.

This is what Reporting and Analytics is all about! I hope you are putting quantitative data behind all of your business decisions no matter what you 'think' or 'feel' about your sales, customers, vendors, products or what have you.

How easy it for you to access the data needed to analyze your pick and zone structure?
